Our New Sectional & Small Living Room Layout
My Best Facebook Marketplace Yet…
I’m so excited to show off my new sectional and subsequently a new living room layout. This changed to our living room wasn’t planned at all. I mean, I was going to do it, just not planning on doing anytime soon.
If you head on over to my YouTube channel this evening you can see the full behind the scenes of how this came about. Essentially I found the sofa for a price I couldn’t say no to. I had planning on buying this sofa full price, but when I saw it going on Facebook Marketplace for £400 less, I couldn’t say no.
The sofa is an Ikea Ektorp three-seater sofa with chaise and I love it. It’s perfect for out family and brings that casual simplicity to our space. Plus, we finally got rid of the gret sofa, which I felt was bringing the vibe of the room down. It’s the ultimate coastal grandmother vibe to our home and is really spurring on the next phase of the rental room makeovers.
Now, this sofa is not 100% perfect. It needs stuffing and we definetly need to get something made behind the couch so it’s not 100% against the wall. And it’s certainly made me rethink the whole living room layout.
Our New Living Room Layout.
So I really tried to resist putting the sofa in front of our front door. But there is no way it would have fit anywhere else. It’s an entrance we never use so we’re not going to be missing out at all. However, it did provide a headache in terms of layout. I could not figure out what would work best for the space. I do think we’ve got it set up well for now, but I really need to tweak everything.
Firstly, the rug is too small now. It’s giving me magic carpet vibes and I need a bigger rug ASAP. I also need to change the artwork to match up the vintage feel of the space. In addition, I need to do some DIYs (console table as mentioned), look for a new side table and move the mirror. I also need to look at making over the fireplace again and filling in the space at the end of the sectional. But I’m so excited for the potential of this space.
I’m enjoying adding in additional vintage pieces, personal items and truly creating this house into a home. Though we are looking to buy next year, we’re continuing with some makeovers. We’ve got the kitchen, home office and primary bedroom to start. But this new living room layouyt is the perfect start of transforming this house.
The sofa is quite nice looking but it looks really bad pressed up against the front door. You say you never use the front door but having the sofa pressed up against it makes the room look non-functional. It is a shame you put the sofa there as it makes the room look cramped too. Hopefully, you can find a solution.
It’s gorgeous! What a find! And it looks great in your living! And so much more space for you 😍
My suggestion ( but maybe you’ve already planned anything similar): put a slim consolle between the entrance door and the sofa, high enough to cover the handle. In this way, the entrance door will look as a beautiful little window ☺️
