How to Incorporate Your Personality into Your Home
Turning a House into a Home…
One of the most important things to consider when designing your house is how you incorporate your personality into your home. It is the one thing that will set your design apart from the rest. There are so many ways to incorporate personality into your home and it’s a lot simpler than you think. This is most important when you live in a rental, or have just moved into a home where you’ve not done major renovations to.
All these things that I’m going to suggest are so easy to do and you probably have these around your house right now. Are you ready to add additional interest and inject some personality into your home? Here are my top tips on how to do…
Artwork.
Artwork is such a simple way to incorporate your personality into your home. These can be paintings that help you feel certain emotions or pieces you’ve picked up on your travels. Anything that speaks to you as a person. Artwork is not just paintings, family photographs are a great way to incorporate your personality into your home. For me, I love to switch up these things seasonally, so my cosy, winter photographs during that season and more lighter, sunshine ones at the beginning of the year.
The one thing I always advise with artwork is to go bigger. Tiny artwork looks so awkward on walls, so go as big as you possibly can.
Statement Pieces.
I love a good piece of statement furniture. Something that makes your whole room pop. One great way to do this in a living room is with a statement sofa, like one made of velvet. A rich, bold sofa will instantly draw the eyes to it and speak to who you are as a person.
If you’re not so bold, other ways to do this is with statement furniture or large decor pieces, like statues and artwork.
Coffee Table Books.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Coffee table books are a great way to incorporate your personality into your home. They can literally speak to who you are and what you like without you having to say a word. They are also so easy to decorate with. Stack them on shelving or leave one open on a particular page with some gorgeous images.
Coffee table books don’t have to be on just interiors or fashion. Anything that you love is ideal.

Woven Textures.
Woven textures are another great way to incorporate your personality into your home. This can be your throw pillows, blankets, bedding, anything that your throw onto a hard structure. How do you incorporate a bit of you into these? Go for colours you love, look in your wardrobe for inspiration for shades and patterns.
Another larger woven texture is your rugs. Go for a pattern with tones that speak to who you are as a person and your whole room will shine.
Scents.
I love incorporating a scent into a home. It’s a great way to complete a room but also connect your guests to their host. I always gravitate to a scent that is similar to my perfumes, so very woody, deep scents. Candles and diffusers are the way to go, especially an electronic diffuser. I love to put mine on a timer so it scents the room an hour before I come home.
