Layered Lived-In Look is Making a Comeback…

I’m so happy that the layered styling, lived-in look is back in. For so long the minimal, simple home decor was what we were all aiming for. Now, having homes that feel lived in are finally back in trend and I’m so happy.

Not that it would change how I style my home. If you’ve been following me on Instagram for a while, you’ll know that I’m all about having a cosy, inviting home. If someone described my home as a grandma house, I’d take it as a compliment. I’m not saying that it looks old-fashioned (though that’s not bad…), but rather that feeling of collections, layered styled.

So if you are interested in creating that lived-in look in your home, here are my top tips on how to do so.

Layer the Textures.

For me, I love having layers of textures in my home. This doesn’t have to be just in one spot, but if the whole room has elements of different textures and tones, it can really elevate the space. In my living room, I have linen, brick, wood, glass, metals across the room. Layering all these textures really gives your home that lived-in look.

Add in Personal Touches.

To completed a lived-in space, you really need to add the personal touches. From gathered photo frames fulled of memories, to stacks of coffee table books, it’s all these elements that bring life to your space. I love creating elements of personality in each of our rooms.

Don’t Forget Lighting.

The big light never gets turned on in our house for a reason. Lamps are the way to light your home. What’s more, layers of lamps around a room complete that lived-in look. For me, I like to have a lamp at each spot where someone would sit. So this would be at either side of my sofa and at my arm chair. They don’t have to be table lamps, floor lamps are also ideal. Lamps are just the perfect way to add warmth and cosiness to your home.

Always Add an Element of Greenery.

Florals and greenery add life to a space. Literally. I love to add a nature element to each of my rooms. This can be with faux florals or actual florals, whichever suits your lifestyle. If you cannot tell from my recent photos, I’m a little obsessed with my new orchid on our coffee table. It creates life, shape and height to the decor.
