Our Courtyard Garden Makeover
Just in Time for Summer…
This courtyard garden makeover has been a labour of love. And when it came to photographing the space, the weather was not playing ball. However, I can confirm that right now as I’m writing this post, the weather is glorious, the plants are thriving and I cannot wait to enjoy some alfresco dining this evening.
I decided to give our courtyard garden makeover a little mix-up as it felt neglected. It was a few years since we did the garden makeover and not that long ago I did a garden refresh. However, it felt very sad after a long winter and I wanted to give it a new lease of life.
The other thing was I decided to give gardening a go. Yes, I’ve joined fellow millennials heading straight to retirement and getting into gardening. However, with our small place, we couldn’t just do full beds of veggies, so it was time to get creative.
Our Courtyard Garden Makeover.
If you’ve been following me on Instagram, I’ve been getting into container gardening. Basically what veg thrives growing in small pots or beds. I’ve got a lot of different veggies growing and I cannot wait till get to harvest them.
I also invested in a mini greenhouse to help with the seeding growing. And by invest I mean I paid £15 for it. It was a bargain and does the job perfectly.
Most of the side planters that divide our yard from our neighbours are growing veggies, but the two that get the most shade have been refilled with plants. Think cottage chic, with lavender, hydrangeas and herbs. I cannot wait for the hydrangeas to come out in full force and to pot them in our home.
Makeover-wise for our courtyard garden, I think we are done. I’m thinking of adding an arch between planters next year and perhaps getting a bigger greenhouse (lord knows where it’s going to go). For now, it’s perfect for living my coastal grandmother life and enjoying alfresco dinners this summer.
