A Spicy Twist on a Christmas Classic…

This is quite possibly one of my favourite treats to have at Christmas time, baked Camembert and chilli jam parcel. There’s always some form of baked Camembert on my table during the holidays. However this recipe has a little twist with the chilli jam. I love a bit of spice, but cut with the sweetness of the jam, this indulgent dish is perfect for your Christmas party this season.

Not a fan of Camembert? Not to worry, this recipe can be swapped out with brie and still be equally delicious. This dish is best served with some crackers, slices of bread or a spoon. It can be placed in the centre of a holiday charcuterie board or perhaps a side dish on the main day. The way the cheese oozes out of the baked Camembert and chilli jam parcel will definitely be a crowd pleaser (think of the boomerangs on Instagram Stories).

Baked Camembert and Chilli Jam Parcel.

The best thing about this recipe? It’s so simple. There’s hardly any steps to it and is so easy to prep before hand so you can serve it as hot as possible. You could go a bit complex and make your own puff pasty. However, when you’ve got other things to worry about, it’s best to keep dishes as simple as possible.

You honestly can’t go wrong with this recipe at your next festive gathering.

Ingredients

  • 1 roll of ready puff pasty
  • 1 camembert wheel
  • 3 tbsp chilli jam
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  • Pre-heat the oven to 200 degrees. Lay the puff pastry flat on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Place the camembert in the center of the pastry and remove a little of the rind from the top of the brie. I leave the rind on the bottom and sides intact.
  • Spread the chilli jam over top and season. Fold the corners of the pastry over the camembert. Brush the pastry with beaten egg and season.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is deep golden brown. Eat and enjoy with your favorite bread or crackers or just with a spoon.
