Our Rental Home DIY Fireplace Makeover

A DIY Project That I’m In Love With…

When it came to making over our rental living room, I knew there was one makeover that I wanted to do. This DIY fireplace makeover has been a long time coming. I know that people have loved the green stone that was previously in the living room. However, Personally I could not stand it and that I was going to cover it.

As a long-time renter, I’m a believer in the power of contact paper. If you’re renting, it’s 100% something you should be investing in. It completely changes a space is totally renter-friendly. Simply remove at the end of your tenancy. I’ve used it in our kitchen and love it on our counters. As the fireplace is quite large, using sheets of contact paper instead of tile stickers was more cost-effective. The result is simply stunning…

THE WHOLE DIY FIREPLACE MAKEOVER PROCESS.

The contact paper I used was this one. We have gone for quite a dark vein one in the kitchen and I wanted something that would be a statement in the living room. This one is simply gorgeous and I would highly recommend this brand.

When it comes to contact paper, it takes patience. You may spot on the bottom of the mantle that there were a few errors, this is down to me being wanting to get everything finished and completed straight away. I might fix it later, but for now, it will do. It’s all about angling the coffee table just right.

I cannot comment on how it comes off, but I will report back on this when we leave this home (unless the other tenant really wants us to keep it up). But for a quick update and refresh that doesn’t break the bank and is not permanent, you cannot go wrong with contact paper.
