5 Ways to Upgrade Your Living Room on a Budget
Mixing it up, Without Breaking the Bank…
If this last year has taught us anything, it is that home is very important. However, we can’t always be buying new things time and time again. Sometimes you have to upgrade your living room on a budget. I’m constantly pulling inspo from Instagram and Pinterest, incorporating some ideas with the things that I’ve got.
If you feel the need to mix up your living room, but you have a small to no budget, here are some of my top tips for upgrading your living room on a budget…
STYLE YOUR COFFEE TABLE.
One thing you can do to upgrade your living room on a budget is to give your coffee table a mini makeover. It doesn’t have to be much, but just rearranging items on top, adding a candle or even a vase of flowers will do wonders for your living room. Flowers or some form of decor item adds height and texture. Coffee table books infuse colour and bring interest and intrigue to your styling. The best thing is that your coffee table can easily be adjusted for the seasons so you can tweak it as often as you want.
ADD TEXTURE & PATTERNS WITH CUSHIONS.
Another thing that you can do to upgrade your living room on a budget is by adding throw pillows to your sofa. The perfect cushion can add that finishing touch to your space. It’s a minimal commitment, swapping patterns and textures. However, it can make such a difference to your room.
Again, I like to swap out with the seasons. Going lighter in the Spring/ Summer and darker/ richer in the Winter. With pillows you can go expensive or affordable, each will look great on your couch.

INCORPORATE TABLE LIGHTING.
I’ve learnt that lighting is essential for creating a vibe in your home. Switching from overhead lighting to side/ accent lights give the space a softer, warm light that makes such a difference to your room. Recently, I brought down this table lamp from upstairs and I’m so glad I did. Our evenings feel cosier, more relaxing.
If there’s something a little off about your living room, bring down a table light and see the change it can make to your space.

ADD AN ACCENT CHAIR.
Adding an accent chair can really elevate the overall look of your living room. I would love to swap out our current sofa, however, it’s not an option right now. So by switching around the layout and bringing this accent chair next to my sofa, I feel the whole vibe of the space feels more luxe.
The best thing about accent chairs means you do not have to break the bank with them. Go vintage, go designer. It all depends on your style and budget.
INCORPORATE VINTAGE DECOR PIECES.
In recent months, I’ve really fallen for incorporating vintage pieces into your home. I love the thrill of finding a unique piece that no one has that will fit perfectly into my home. More recently, I’ve taken to online, trying to find pieces to fill my home with. There is always a bargain to be found, a new piece that needs a home. What I love to do also is to mix them with newer pieces. It’s the contrast that gives your room interest and intregiue.
