BECAUSE NOTHING MAKES ME HAPPIER THAN A GORGEOUSLY STYLED COFFEE TABLE…

If there’s one thing that I love to look on point in my home, it’s my coffee table. It’s pretty much my pride of joy in my living room. I love styling it up, playing around with it. Even when I play around with it, styling a coffee table has a basic formula that you can all follow.

I always get asked about how I style up my coffee table on my Instagram, so here are my top tips for styling a coffee table…

START WITH A TRAY.

The first thing I start with is a tray. A tray is a great way of keeping things organised and tidy. I love my wooden one from Zara Home. It’s not only stylish, its the perfect size for holding our coasters and other knick-knacks. I would always recommend going large, getting one that is half the size of your coffee table, if not larger. Your tray can be in any material, I tend to go for more natural textures like wood or rattan. Make sure your tray suit your interior style.

CREATE A FLORAL DISPLAY.

Next is a floral display. You want to add some life and naturalness to your coffee table. I love this faux floral arrangement that I’ve created using this face vase. I will always prefer real flowers over faux botanicals, but it’s nice to have something as a constant that I don’t need to worry about. Ensure that your florals are something that you love, your favourite flowers, even some greenery. Eucalyptus is huge right now in interior decors and if you go for some dry stems, they will last for days.

DECOR ITEMS.

Decor items are the clutter you want on your coffee table that is ideal for styling your coffee table. They add colour, texture and personality. These items can also be a story starter, whether it be an item from your travels or something from your past. I like to add these decor items in the tray or stacked on top of books. Whichever decor items you choose, it must be something you love and want to look at every single day.

STACKED BOOKS OR MAGAZINES.

Everyone knows about my love my coffee table books. They are something that I completely happy to admit I’m a hoarder about. I’m always willing to spend my money on. Other than I enjoy reading a good coffee table book, they are also a great object to use when styling a coffee table. When stacking books on your coffee table, stick as much as you can to an odd number of books. They say never to judge a book by its cover, but I do tend to lean towards ones with neutral tones. I also like to go for different subjects, topics that drive the conversation.

CANDLES.

Candles are also something that I absolutely love to have in my home. Not only do they add a gorgeous scent to your room, but they help as a great styling tool for a coffee table. They also improve the room’s vibe, allowing you to set the tone for your home. I love to have something energetic in our living room, making it feel bright and inviting. Much like the decor items, they also create height and add dimension to your coffee table. I always love a larger candle rather than a small, skinny one. They draw the eye towards them, adding shape and interest to your coffee table.
