Leeds Eats: If Call Lane
IF Call Lane…
I’ve been meaning to write about this place for ages. A great little secret tucked down on Call Lane in the heart of the City Centre. It’s not that far from Trinity and Victoria Gate so it’s a great starting point for a spot of brunch before you go shopping. So when I was invited to try out their brunch menu on their new opening times of Sunday, I jumped at the chance. Whilst I would love to keep If Call Lane as my own little secret hideaway, it’s too good not to share…
In terms of interiors, If Call Lane is a beautiful, light airy space. Marble countertops, light-washed floors, pale grey woods and exposed bricks. Their plant game is on a whole other level, it rivals my own plant baby collection! The only thing I don’t like about the interiors is their table tops. I have a thing about restaurants using dark wooden tables when they have a light aesthetic. I understand they are easy to clean and look after, but surely there’s a lighter table out there that does the same? However, everything else about the coffee shop counteracts this. A few shots in here will seriously up your Instagram feed…
A brand new brunch menu…
Recently If Call Lane have changed up their brunch menu and boy does it look good! Their brunch specials sound amazing, I have my eye on their Shakshuka for my next visit. During my visit, I went for a classic dish, avocado on toast. With a little adding of something extra (pumpkin seeds + a pinch of chilli), it’s the perfect dish to curl up in the corner booth with your favourite mag and take some time for yourself. Honestly, hanging out in a coffee shop taking an hour for myself with a good cup of coffee is my favourite past time.
Speaking of coffee, you can’t go wrong with a place that serves North Star. My favourite local coffee supplier, these guys serve it up so good. They have the typical coffee drinks you’d find on a coffee shop menu. However, ask really nicely, and they might whip up something special. One of my recently discovered drinks is a dirty chai latte (chai latte with a shot of coffee), and if you ask you will receive!
Should you want something stronger, then fear not. If Call Lane is open late and they serve cocktails throughout the day. All the classic drinks with a twist, along with some fabulous mocktails. Perfect for Dry January.
This place is a little gem in the heart of the city centre. Come here mid-week on your lunch break for an hour or two for yourself, or grab your girls and have a catch up over cocktails. Trust me, you’re going to have a fabulous time, I promise.
This brunch at If Call Lane was complimentary in exchange for a review. All thoughts & opinions are still my own.
Oh what a cute and cosy place!
